The 50 clubs in world foot’ball with the biggest net spend since 2012..!

‘Net tra’nsfer spend’ is a phrase often thr’own into argum’ents when the biggest-spen’ding clubs are disc’ussed – and the list of t’he 50 high’est net spenders over the p’ast decade is an extre’mely revealing one.

Va’lue for money and the transfer m’arket are not th’ings that usually mix, partic’ularly in modern fo’otball.

And, with m’ore and more owners cha’sing the Cham’pions League dream, price ta’gs have been signi’ficantly inflated, with the num’ber of flops also incre’asing exponentially.

It’ll be no sur’prise to many that the t’wo Manch’ester clubs have the highest net sp’end in the wo’rld over the past decade. B’ut, while City hav’e established themselves as Eng’land’s domin’ant force, rivals United have lur’ched from one dis’aster to the next.

Arse’nal are surprisingly high, alth’ough their habit of spen’ding big and releasing pl’ayers for free under M’ikel Arteta comes into pl’ay here.

The presen’ce of PSG, Barcelona and Juv’entus in the upper ech”elons is also revea’ling, with each club gu’ilty of splurging on unful’filling signings over th’e last 10 years.

English clubs do’minate this list; West Ha’m are above Inter Mil’an, Leeds outrank Real Ma’drid while West Br’om nestle in ahead of Atle’tico Madrid and Ro’ma. These placings ar’e a sign of the tim’es.

But th’ere’s also an intere’sting influx of non-Euro’pean clubs, especially fro’m China. Shan’ghai Port have the 24th hi’ghest net transfer spe’nd since 2012 and the’re are a further six Chin’ese sides in ‘our list.

The pres’ence of big-spending M’exican, Russ’ian and Saudi Arabian si’des gives our rank’ing an exotic flavour, altho’ugh each cou’ntry has a track record in im’porting expe’nsive foreign sig’nings.

Check out ou’r full top 50 ranking be’low, with the nu’mbers coming cou’rtesy of Transfe’rmarkt.
